No network devices Dell inspiron AMD Ryzen Qualcomm 6x74A

#1 Post by lintzferr »

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 13 7375 with AMD Ryzen 5 2500U processor. I installed Debian with no issues other than missing network card drivers, so the install was completed without a network. Debian shows no network devices available in the desktop icon thing. I put in my service tag in Dell's support site to find the wireless network card used. Dell lists drivers for Qualcomm QCA61x4A QCA9377 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so I'm assuming that is the network card.

After searching for a solution, I tried kvalo's ath10k-firmware. It did not work, so I removed it. Then I installed the package firmware-linux (20161130-4) along with all its dependencies. Rebooted, still no network devices available. I noticed in /lib/firmware/ there was no firmware for ath10k, so I found and installed the package firmware-atheros (20180825+dfsg-1) and rebooted. Still no change. Since then, I have made no changes. Here is the output for "dmesg | grep ath10k" after the reboot following the installation of "firmware-atheros":

Your firmware is crashing the device. Maybe you got a bad download of firmware-atheros, and you need to purge and reinstall it. Or maybe some of the other files you installed beforehand is messing it up.

I had installed the firmware-atheros package for testing. I purged all the packages I mentioned I installed, then installed the stable and it worked. Thanks.
