copy from workstation to nas extremely slow

Postby oida » 2019-02-04 15:55

Hi,

after installing debian stretch stable i encountered the following problem :

Copying a file from wst to the nas with nautilus is about 8 MB/s
copying same file from nas to wst ist about 90-100 MB/s
copying same file from a windows wst about 100 MB/s both sides

What i have done to isolate the problem :
iperf: from wst to nas ~ 930Mbit/s
Filezilla from wst to nas ist 80-100 MB/s

The nas is a synology ds414, smb parameters on synology are : SMB min SMB2, SMB max SMB3, Encryption disabled, opportunistic locking on

in fstab on wst : //192.168.0.20/Daten /home/reinhard/smb/daten cifs vers=3.0,user,credentials=/home/reinhard/smb/zugang
(changing cifs vers to 2.1 or 2.0 changes nothing)

A change to NFS is not possible, because we have couple of windows machines running and we see troubles with access rights in mixed environment

A change from Gnome3 to XFCE and trying the same with thunar has noc changes, transfer from the wst to nas ist still about 8 MB/s

uname -a
Linux asgard 4.9.0-8-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.130-2 (2018-10-27) x86_64 GNU/Linux

lspci -vv |grep -i ethernet
00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 04)

I do not have any idea what to do for now, so hopefully somewhere has a tip to solve this problem.

Thank you all in advance for any help

How is the network device configured?

found an older thread about same hardware, have you searched the forum?
viewtopic.php?p=547731

p.s. using code blocks for output pasted from the machine will make your post easier to read

First, sorry not for using code blocks
The thread you mentioned was about a ip address conflict, which i definitely can sort out.

The configuration of the network interface is :
Code: Select all
