wine32 install fails How to install wine32

Postby Data007 » 2019-09-02 17:22

Hi Iam relatively new to Linux and Debian I have googled/searched the forums and found the "https://wiki.debian.org/Wine#Standard_installation"

I have Debian 10, and wine of some description installed. I copied and pasted the the command from the wiki, and the resulting output see below.

How to install wine32?

root@debian:/home/XXX/wine# apt install \
> wine \
> wine32 \
> libwine \
> fonts-wine

What happens if you try (as root):

Code: Select all
apt --fix-broken install
Lenovo Thinkpad T440S, Intel Core i7-4600U CPU @ 2.10GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Debian Buster (KDE)

That fixed the broken install. I was then able to go in with apt autoremove, "I forget the exact command" it was listed as a fix after your solution to the problem in the command/shell.

I then went back and tried to follow the Debian-Wine-Wiki
After each set off commands I had to run your fix line, but wine32 will not install, I belive that I may have to add the i386 to Debian install. It is after all a Debian 10 x 64 install.

The last set off commands looks like this.
xxx@debian:~/wine$ sudo apt install \
> wine \
> wine32 \
> wine64 \

I tried several off the commands and tried to follow the wiki, it all fails.
I get down to the "Installing Android SDK compat libraries" section.
I believe a missing signature maybe at fault, lines in the shell indicate this......

Output in the shell now reads....

Yes as a post further up the thread you can clearly see the oputput of the first command!!

I am at a loss I am relativly new to Debian and Linux and are unsure where this leaves me, I dont understand where half these errors are coming from, I only now have one line in sources but its talking about lines(Graphic installs) that where done when trying to install the graphics card. :x

Why have you added an Ubuntu repository?

Yes, add i386

Hello One exists in the sources but it commented out, its the commands they seem to add sources.
I tried to add the 32bit archatecture i386

If I read correctly they add the repo's "https://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch/HOWTO" I quote part off
"
Setting up apt sources

Apt defaults to using the set of architectures reported by dpkg, and any unqualified architecture deb lines in /etc/apt/sources.list, which is usually what you wanted. This can be overridden using APT::Architecture=<arch> to set the default architecture or APT::Architectures="<arch> <arch>".

apt-sources can be architecture qualified with this syntax. This is very useful on Ubuntu's split archive. It is not normally necessary on Debian unless your normal archive does not mirror the extra architectures you are interested in.

deb [arch=amd64,i386] http://uk.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal main universe
deb [arch=armel, armhf] http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports quantal main universe

Arch-qualifying deb-src lines doesn't make any sense.
"

A list of my sources

#deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 10.0.0 _Buster_ - Official amd64 DVD Binary-1 20190706-10:24]/ buster contrib main

deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ buster main contrib non-free
#deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ disco main
# deb-src https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ disco main
#deb [arch=amd64,i386] http://uk.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal main universe
#deb [arch=armel,armhf] http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports quantal main universe

That's a us source but I am in the UK

Thanks for the help but where from here?

You can break your system beyond repair adding Ubuntu PPAs, but luckily, you don't seem to have to installed anything from them because you also missed the step to add their repository key. But you seem to have broken your system anyway, probably by doing something else.

I suggest you read this carefully and take it to heart: https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian

Installing aptitude and using its "intelligence" and multiple solutions can also help repair a broken system. It's not that hard to use, so please also read a guide to that.

I have reinstalled Debian 10
I successfully did the i386 architecture (I believe!)
and trying to follow the wine Debian wiki, but come up against,

Media change: please insert the disc labeled
'Debian GNU/Linux 10.0.0 _Buster_ - Official amd64 DVD Binary-1 20190706-10:24'
in the drive '/media/cdrom/' and press [Enter]
^C

This is all well and good but the media is on a USB drive, never mind I have an ISO downloading and Ile attempt to burn it to external cdrom/dvd
I just hope I haven't mucked up the wine32 install by exiting ctrl c

if you edit /etc/apt/sources.list and put a hash in front of the installation media entry like this:
Code: Select all

and run apt update, then it won't ask for the disc so labeled to be inserted.

Thanks for that.

I have gone and installed wine32, the lines I am trying to follow from an online video(youtube) reads:

winedebian=win32 WINEPREFIX=/home/xxx/wine/bluestacks winecfg
This one works and an dir bluestacks is created the next line fails

winedebian=win32 WINEPREFIX=/home/steve/wine/bluestacks winetricks

the shell looks like this..

root@debian-10:/home/xxx/wine# apt install winetricks
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package winetricks is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'winetricks' has no installation candidate
root@debian-10:/home/xxx/wine#

This winetricks did exsisted before I reinstalled Debian 10

I have run apper and install everything I can find on wine bar the gnome themes an such…….

Any advice on winetricks and installing same?
