Changing GeForce MX150 drivers to Nvidia

Postby GonzaloP » 2020-01-19 13:12

When I connect the second display to the computer I face some errors, such as I can't resume the session after hibernating and so on, if I don't connect a second display the laptop works just fine, so I was wondering if changing the drivers to nvidia could solve the issue, I am using Debian 10 with the Intel drivers:

Code: Select all
       description: VGA compatible controller
       product: Intel Corporation
       vendor: Intel Corporation
       physical id: 2
       bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0
       version: 07
       width: 64 bits
       clock: 33MHz
capabilities: pciexpress msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom
       configuration: driver=i915 latency=0
       resources: irq:128 memory:b2000000-b2ffffff memory:c0000000-cfffffff ioport:4000(size=64) memory:c0000-dffff
       description: 3D controller
       product: NVIDIA Corporation
       vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
       physical id: 0
       bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0
       version: a1
       width: 64 bits
       clock: 33MHz
capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list
       configuration: driver=nvidia latency=0
       resources: irq:140 memory:b3000000-b3ffffff memory:a0000000-afffffff memory:b0000000-b1ffffff ioport:3000(size=128)

With a Geforce MX150:

Code: Select all
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 620 (rev 07)
01:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP108M [GeForce MX150] (rev a1)

Is it recommended to use nvidia drivers or the Intel works better?

Have you installed the non-free firmware that is required by your choice of hardware?
