Partitioning ssd
I have bought new computer with ssd. I have never install operating system on ssd. I wnt to be dual boot, windows + Debian. Is there any difference between partitioning ordinary hard drive and ssd. Also, what to choose, MBR or GPT?

You'll need a GPT disk for Windows if you want to boot in UEFI mode (to take advantage of Secure Boot): https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Du ... imitationspythagorasmk wrote:MBR or GPT?
Be sure to also boot the Debian installer in UEFI mode or you won't get a menu entry for Windows: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Du ... imitations

Also if I use GPT, and if I use USB Hard drive for backup (not for boot) but with MBR, can I access the hard drive?

Make sure that UEFI is enabled and that Legacy mode (also known as CSM) is disabled in your firmware ("BIOS") options.pythagorasmk wrote:How to boot debian installer in UEFI mod?
Same as you would with an msdos ("MBR") partition table on the system drive, it shouldn't make any difference.pythagorasmk wrote:if I use GPT, and if I use USB Hard drive for backup (not for boot) but with MBR, can I access the hard drive?
