update-rc.d not working

Postby runskishoot » 2020-02-04 17:00

I am on Debian 9.11 built from ami-0923c9afe47a3093f

I am trying to set up a service to start on the server start.

Code: Select all
update-rc.d Talend-Remote-Engine-service defaults

The command above doesn't return anything and I also don't see anything created in any of the rc{n}.d directories.

init.d is set up:
Talend-Remote-Engine-service -> /home/cloud-user/Talend-RemoteEngine-V2.8.0/bin/Talend-Remote-Engine-service

Debian 9 uses systemd by default as init system.
OS: Debian 10.3 Buster / WM: twm

Indeed, it's the default init system for Debian since Jessie.
The following should work
Code: Select all
sudo systemctl enable <RemoteEngineInstallationDirectory>/bin/Talend-Remote-Engine.service

Return to System configuration
