[Solved] Resolution way to big ! Do I miss the good driver ?

Postby Fred34 » 2020-04-04 13:00

Hello everyone

I installed Debian 10 on my computer. I’ve two computers but on this one the graphic seems like massive ….
I mean the resolution is really big compare to the other one. It seems like it doesn’t have the right drivers
My compute is a HP 250 G6 Notebook, Intel Core i5-7200U, 2,5 - 3,1 GHz, 3 MB Cache, 4 GB di RAM, SATA 1 TB, Display WLED da 15.6" 1366 x 768
I’ve this card : 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 620 (rev 02) and I installed xserver-xorg-video-intel
I've exactly the same resolution (1366x768) with windows

Thanks for your help

Have you installed the non-free firmware that is required by your video hardware? The i915 Intel driver is already included in the kernel.

And what does "way to [sic] big" mean, exactly? What resolution were you expecting? Is "1366x768" what you have at the moment?

It is still unclear what you mean by "massive" or "big". The resolution is just as it should, equal to the native screen resolution.
Are you talking about the font size ?

Not according to your screenshot...
Code: Select all
apt policy firmware-misc-nonfree

Installing firmwares won't change the resolution if it is already native.

^ That is true but the OP will need it anyway if they want reasonable performance from that hardware.

no no it's really installed

You can see on this picture what i mean. on the left, the HP "good computer" and on the right a shitty computer paid 150 € on a Chinese website. You see the massive difference between the both ?
Is that normal for you ?

Change your DPI.
However it's done on your setup. For xfce it's in Appearance>Fonts at the bottom of that tab. I use 120 or 144 and on things at 167. Works for me...
