Have you check your "Power Manager" in the "System Setting"?

Debian stable shouldn't change, have you been messing with foreign sources?
Code: Select all
apt policy

Try the systemd journal but you will have to enable persistent logging to be able to view previous boots.

Try to reinstall your distribution. I had the same issue, and that was the only solution.

Oh really, if that was the only solution, how many did you test?

Linux has some differences compared to Windows.

I do not mean that there are no other ways - I've been trying to fix the issue, did thorough research, but all my attempts were unsuccessful, which is why my ideal solution was to reinstall the system which took no more than 40 minutes, but helped solve the problem.

Great it worked for you, my point was that complete reinstall is not needed.

But I agree, if you don't have much experience, sometimes installing again could be the fastest method.

That's not a solution, it's a workaround ;)

If you had opened a thread here instead then perhaps we could have helped you find the root cause and also helped you to improve your troubleshooting skills and your knowledge of Debian and GNU/Linux. Although that would probably have taken more than 40 minutes it may have helped you save even more time in future if you ever encounter such problems again.
