NGINX Reverse Proxy and Docker containers

Postby questlinq » 2020-07-15 14:48

Hello,

I have Debian 9 with NGINX Reverse Proxy and Docker containers installed.

I'm trying to set-up a "Reverse-TCP-Proxy with pass-through without SSL Termination".

Each Docker container is running its own MTA (Postfix) and IMAP (Dovecot) server on a shared bridged network.

I want to proxy traffic to Docker containers based on Domain and SNI Header without decrypting the connection.

Somehow, connections don't get through to Docker containers when using 587/TCP and 993/TCP ports with NGINX Reverse Proxy.

This is an error I keep getting
Code: Select all
2020/07/14 19:53:47 [error] 20#20: *153 no host in upstream "", client: [PUBLIC IP], server: 0.0.0.0:993, bytes from/to client:0/0, bytes from/to upstream:0/0

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Does NGINX understand and/or work with SMTP and IMAP at all?

I'm not sure you know what you're (think you're) doing.
If you really are, then something tells me you wouldn't be asking here (hint: debian, not nginx :)

Good luck!
