CUPS - PDF output file name

Postby learnstepbystep » 2020-07-21 08:47

Starting from Buster, setting option
Code: Select all
Label 0
in
Code: Select all
/etc/cups/cups-pdf.conf
does not give expected output file name. It gives me the file names padded with
Code: Select all
-job_#
at the end of file name like this
Code: Select all
my_file_name-job_70.pdf

After I I run
Code: Select all
lpoptions -o Label=0
,
Code: Select all
/etc/cups/lpoptions
is created with the following line:
Code: Select all
Default PDF Label=0

However, the output file names become
Code: Select all
my_file_name__default_options.pdf

The output file name I want is
Code: Select all
my_file_name.pdf
.

How do I get output file names without any unwanted prefixes or trailers.

Thank you inadvance!

I found this workaround to make output PDF file name predictable.

Prepare the following line in /etc/cups/lpoptions:
Code: Select all
Default PDF Label=0 Truncate=16

(Debian 8 and 9 do not require this file.)

Restart cups.

Always give report Title of 16 characters matching the parameter
Code: Select all
Truncate
in
Code: Select all
lpoptions
.

Thank you all for the patience.
