Gnome 3.30 /Debian 10 buster configuration

Postby coco45 » 2020-10-16 12:34

Hello
just few questions for gnome configuring .I am really a newbie with Gnome ( good experience of Cinnammon ,xfce or lxde with Mint , Arch , Antix...etc )
How to modify icons size on the desktop ? and how to re-arrange them by name or type ?
How to add a button "windows minimising /maximising " ? only a button 'x' to close
How to add a button to "session suspend / user change " ? the button on the dash allow only to stop the session .
Is there any way to sort / search extensions by name in the logitek ?

Extensions already added : "dash to panel" and "desktop-icons " , "hot corner windows " ( from Debian logitek )
A lot of difficulties to find good infos even on the web ( depend on GNome rev ,it seems)

I think that's an option in gnome-tweaks.

Not sure about your other questions though (sorry), I prefer the vanilla desktop myself. Perhaps try dconf-editor and see if you can find any relevant options. Or search for extensions to do what you want. How are your javascript skills?

Open a terminal and run it from there to see any error messages:
Code: Select all
gnome-tweaks

It works fine in my Debian buster GNOME desktop, I use it regularly.

coco45 wrote:I installed gconf-editor but no effect ....

That's not what I suggested, gconf-editor is only for legacy applications. Also, what does "no effect" mean, exactly? You should describe what you did and what happened.

I suspect PEBKAC. Have you broken it already?
Code: Select all
apt policy

Did you run that from a TTY (console screen) or something?

Can we also see the output of
Code: Select all
echo $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP
