Reinstall bbswitch-dkms after each kernel update

Postby b215826 » 2020-11-03 00:24

I currently have the bbswitch kernel module installed from Buster backports. Now, whenever I do a usual upgrade, it seems that I break the bbswitch package and I have to reinstall it again after installing the right headers for compilation using
Code: Select all
apt install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
apt install -t buster-backports bbswitch-dkms

I understand that this is what dkms is supposed to do, but for some reason I have to do it manually. Is there any way I can automate this? I.e., automatically fetch the right headers and recompile the package.

It works correctly for me, but it probably depends on what kernel version you have and why you have to install new headers manually instead of using the headers metapackage to update those automatically.
