Apache Setup/Commands?
Guys, I am running Apache2 in Debian Etch and need some help.
I have one file called index.html but I don't know where to place this file so Apache will read it as my main banner? I right now have it in the default location of /var/www/apache2-default but I don't think it properly is meant to go there and if I move it to another dir. like /var/www it breaks Apache.
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 304 2005-08-29 19:45 index.html
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 91730 2005-08-29 19:41 less_human.jpg
Anyone care to help me out on this one?

I don't see the redirect enabled and I did not modify the file...
Code: Select all
NameVirtualHost *
<VirtualHost *>
ServerAdmin carloswill@gmail.com
DocumentRoot /var/www/
<Directory />
Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
</Directory>
<Directory /var/www/>
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
allow from all
# This directive allows us to have apache2's default start page
# in /apache2-default/, but still have / go to the right place
RedirectMatch ^/$ /apache2-default/
</Directory>

Thank you. That seemed to work. Now the only question I have is this error:
Also, can I delete the .../apache2-default folder and all its contents?
Code: Select all
debian:/var/www/apache2-default# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
Forcing reload of web server: Apache2apache2: Could not determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName
