Question re: ACPI errors...

#1 Post by geocritter »

Hey guys (and gals),
Quick question...I'm getting an error during bootup about ACPI being disabled in the bios, bios too old, and later, trouble installing some stuff related to it (pciehp: acpi_pciehprm:get_device PCI ROOT HID fail=0x1001
shpchp: acpi_shpchprm:get_device PCI ROOT HID fail=0x1001). Can somebody give me a hand?

Thanks so much. I posted my full dmesg below...
Dan

you could try and edit the grub.conf file:
try adding acpi=ht or acpi=force to the end of the line.

tried that

Thanks for the response. I tried that. It generated some more errors about still being unable to insert those drivers, and something along the lines of "operation not permitted". I've seen other people with this problem; I was wondering if it wasn't a kernel bug that was fixed in a later version...I'm on 2.6.8 right now. Mepis and Ubuntu both never had this error, so I'm kinda confused....
