Bootsplash with no initrd image ??? Is it possible ??

#1 Post by diegoll2k »

Hi. I'm booting a Debian 2.6.12 kernel with some tweaks of mine (cxacru, bootsplash and so on). The problem is that I'm building the ReiserFS module into the kernel, so I don't use an initrd image. Is there any way to use a bootsplash theme without using an initrd image ?? I'm asking because If I compile ReiserFS as a module and use an initrd image, this kernel will (surprisingly) throw the known "kernel panic - not syncing - unable to mount root on ...".

Any help is more than welcome

The bootsplash theme via GRUB is before the OS so as long as GRUB supports ReiserFS, it should be OK.
