Memory Amount wrong // Debian can't allocate my whole RAM

I just installed a new debian system on my server.
the problem is, that debian can't use all of my ram.
even top shows the wrong amount. //Highmem enabled

I have the same problem on another DEBIAN Server (Sarge 3.1) with 2 GB Ram.
the stats there from top are the same ....

On other Linux distris like Gentoo this error doesn't occurr (or is it an error ?)

I am having the same problem,only 885 mb's of one gig are showing. I had the same problem with Xandros,had to upgrade the kernel,going to have to try that with Debian also,probably the only way to fix it.
