Kernel Compile Advice

#1 Post by RWIndiana »

Well, I've compiled my own kernel several times, the last time being the most successful and speeding up boot time the best. Alas, it also resulted in the most boot-time error messages! 2.6.14 kernel fixed some problems I was having with 2.6.13.4, but I tried to do it this time without initrd (it did not listen to me though, and used initrd anyway!).

I'll just copy my 'dmesg' list here and see if you have any comments:

If I were you, I would use the original uncompiled kernel with parameter apci=off.

Try that and see the output of dmesg.

Cheers,
