i was wondering whether anyone here has had any experience with apt-build im getting it to work but just barely my main thing is what do you put in the options field im not at my computer but i think i put in like
fomit loop funroll gcc
and a few others
if someone has maybe a list of the options and what they do that would help
when the soul is nothing the heart is everything

You should read the man page!!! The flag you want to use won't have a big impact on your performance.

most of the relevant options (that do not risk resulting in unusable executables) are activated by -O2/-O3 anyway. For the rest look at the manpage or ask the Gentoo Handbook ;)
