NFS installation failing in squeeze on ARM (kirkwood)

Postby Boldie » 2011-03-22 21:54

I have trouble setting up NFS on Debian Squeeze (2.6.32-5-kirkwood armv5tel GNU/Linux) running on a Sheevaplug. After some digging and googling I found that the NFS server is (probably) not properly installed.

no rules in iptables or hosts.allow or hosts.deny. Fresh OS install.

apt-get install --reinstall nfs-kernel-server
generates this output:

Code: Select all
Setting up nfs-kernel-server (1:1.2.2-4) ...
Stopping NFS kernel daemon: mountd nfsd.
Unexporting directories for NFS kernel daemon....
Exporting directories for NFS kernel daemon....
Starting NFS kernel daemon: nfsdrpc.nfsd: Setting version failed: errno 16 (Device or resource busy)
rpc.nfsd: writing fd to kernel failed: errno 5 (Input/output error)
rpc.nfsd: unable to set any sockets for nfsd
 failed!

so the installation fails, or rather the starting of services fails. But why?

lsmod
Code: Select all
nfs                   270300  0
fscache                34105  1 nfs
nfsd                  247552  3
lockd                  63145  2 nfs,nfsd
nfs_acl                 2277  2 nfs,nfsd
auth_rpcgss            33318  2 nfs,nfsd
sunrpc                171108  6 nfs,nfsd,lockd,nfs_acl,auth_rpcgss
exportfs                3000  1 nfsd

/etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server restart
Code: Select all
Stopping NFS kernel daemon: mountd nfsd.
Unexporting directories for NFS kernel daemon....
Exporting directories for NFS kernel daemon....
Starting NFS kernel daemon: nfsdrpc.nfsd: Setting version failed: errno 16 (Device or resource busy)

/etc/init.d/nfs-common start
Code: Select all
Starting NFS common utilities: statd

 failed!

cat /var/log/daemon.log
Code: Select all

Mar 22 22:32:47 localhost rpc.statd[23989]: Version 1.2.2 starting

Mar 22 22:35:47 localhost rpc.statd[23989]: unable to register (statd, 1, udp).

It could be related to this bug http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=562737
but I wonder if the fix goes to the arm-branch as well?

I have never had any trouble setting up NFS before. Anybody has a clue about this?

Seems to be fixed in resent kernel-image(?).
