No response from dual homed server

I 've two dual homed Servers and a Firewall in a network. One of the Server is an old SuSE Linux 7.3 (i386), the other a debian 3.1. The Servers are identically configured (ip-forwarding off, bridging off).

Code: Select all
10.x.y.z-net-+-----[firewall]-------+-- 195.x.y.z-net (public)
             |                      |
[client1]----+--[debian || debian]--+-----[client2]
             |                      |
             +----[SuSE || SuSE]----+

On the SuSe Server I can reach both Interfaces without any Problems from client one. On the debian Server I can't reach the 195.x Interface from client 1. Otherwise the interface works without problems. The problem seems to be that the packets from client 1 reach the 195.x Interface, but the debian server doesn't generate any response packets. All routes are proerly set.

On the SuSe server: If I ping the 10.x interface it answers with this interface and if I ping the 95.x interface it answers with the 195.x interface.

Has anybody an idea what the problem is?

The Gateways are ok. Default Routes are also ok.

Return to System configuration
