Hello,
I want to configure a user's desktop so that all applications always open in fullscreen mode, and the user can't minimize or resize them.
I didn't find the right settings using gsettings and dconf.
I'm using Debian 8 with Mate.
Thanks

You may like tiling window manager. Read https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=92948makayabou wrote:I didn't find the right settings using gsettings and dconf.

Re: only fullscreen windows
Indeed I found a list of tiling WM (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiling_window_manager), but I don't think that is what I want.
I'm configuring computer for NGO that work with both youngsters (who want to use a classic WM and desktop appearance), and also old people, who are fastly lost with windows overlapping and minimizing..
That's why i was thinking of dconf, that can create user's specific rules..
thanks for the help

Re: only fullscreen windows
You can do this with LXDE or LXQT very easily via the used window manager openbox [1]. Openbox offers per-app settings which allows to configure what you are looking for [2].

Re: only fullscreen windows
KDE Kiosk Admin Tool will facilitate this on KDE. See https://userbase.kde.org/KDE_System_Adm ... troduction
I set up a desktop in a hotel lobby using this a few years back and it worked well.

Re: only fullscreen windows
Hello people,
thanks for your tips.
Using openbox could be a hint, but we use computers powerful enough to run more modern WM..
I always thought of KDE as a highly configurable Desktop Environment, even I've always preferred Gnome.
Whatever, Kiosk Admin Tool really looks like it reaches the very same purpose I do.
I think I will take a deeper look at KDE Kiosk Admin Tool, but I'd rather find a solution using Mate Or Gnome...
Thanks a lot anymway.

Searching for "kiosk" mode will probably get you what you need. There was an article in Linux Journal about setting up a Tiny Core monitor screen: http://www.linuxjournal.com/content/pra ... re-service. It's probably not what you want, but you might look it over to see if there is anything there you can use.
