Hi,
the last update on testing crashed my gnome-shell. There is already a bug-report (Bug#743543) available but no real solution. One of the maintainers answered: "Do you have ATI graphics with the fglrx driver? If so this is a known problem with them not implementing libEGL." So, it is. I have an ATI graphic card .
The bug reporters solution was a switch to the open source driver. I'm not sure, whether this is supported by gnome-shell (I don't want the fallback mode only, I want my gnome-shell back ).
For me, it looks to be the best to make a downgrade to the former version of gnome-shell. The problem occurs after updating to version 3.8.4-5+b2. So I tried the following pinning:
Package: gnome-shell
Pin: version 3.8.4-5+b1
Pin-Priority: 1001
but nothing happens. What made I wrong? How can I downgrade to a former version (but not to stable, the version in stable isn't as stable as awaited). Or does somebody know another (better) solution?
Thanks

gnome-shell & fglrx
Re: gnome-shell & fglrx
Interresting post.. I have the same issue, so I have purged the fglrx-driver, since I was desperate, so now it is "working", but look likes crap!
Sorry, can't help you with your question, but I asume that the fglrx-drver in the repo, will be fixed soon.??

Re: gnome-shell & fglrx
I assume nothing happens because you no longer have the previous package.

Re: gnome-shell & fglrx
Thank you for the link. I'm now able to manually download a single package and try to install it. As awaited, the installation fails with dependencies errors.
How can I downgrade my system to a special version? Is there any chance?

Re: gnome-shell & fglrx
Anyone got this working?
Currently I am stock with crappy resolution, and dual display not working.
I cannot install the official driver, it fails with some DKMS error.
Installing the ones from the repos, gives black screen, OR failure when starting X.
