id3-tagging via command line

#1 Post by beacher_pille88 »

Hello,

here is the problem:

I got lots of music where different Artists were mixed up in mash ups. In my Music library on OpenELEC (xbmc), there are thousands of different artists.

I read about, how to organize it. Here is the (possible?) solution:

I want to cut the Artist-Information and paste it into the album-artist flag. Then I want to write "Various Artists" to the artist-flag. So I have "Various Artists" in the overview, but dont loose the complete artist information.

Can you confirm my theory? Am I doing this right?

Now the next problem: How can I do/script that? Its awful lot of music files. Can you propose me any commandline mp3tag editor?

Im already trying lltag, id3tool, id3v2 ...

There are command line tools but GUI's offer batch processing. I use ExFalso.
