Media keys OSD in Gnome

#1 Post by phenest »

I have a Dell XPS L702X running vanilla Jessie with Gnome. The keyboard media keys, such as play/pause etc, give a 'not recognized' symbol on the screen even though all media applications seem to recognize them just fine.

Is there a way to change the symbol that appears to the correct one?

EDIT: I've edited this as it also affects Wheezy although the symbol doesn't always appear.

As I'm the OP, I'm going to bump this thread.

This problem still exists in Stretch.

If I change the keyboard shortcut for play/pause to Ctrl+Alt+P, same problem. The keyboard shortcut responds by showing the OSD, but the OSD is not the correct symbol, and media software does not respond.
