The 15.9-3 proprietary AMD fglrx-driver in jessie-backports was patched to build against the 4.3 kernel, but the 15.9-4 update that just came from the security update repository had that patch removed, so it's possible to end up without a GUI if you have that kernel and fglrx installed, and then upgraded. I managed to sidestep the issue by backporting and installing fglrx-driver 15.12 from Sid, which will build on the 4.3 and 4.4 kernel, but users should also be able to carefully add the Sid repo and upgrade it from there.
