Just curious, Steve, has the click&pop module improved? I work with digitizing vinyl, and IMHO that is Audacity's weakest point.

I don't actually use the program myself, so you would have to ask on their forum. :? The MX users that have have tried it say it works fine, but haven't said anything about that module.

Audacity's restoration functions are quite basic and not as effective as the (non-Linux, non-free) industry standard professional programs. CEDAR is reported to be the best but is stupidly expensive at over $11,000 for the full suite.
I've had good results with iZotope RX 6 and the Waves restoration plugins. Nothing in Linux quite compares unfortunately.

Well, I still have my old copy of Cool Edit 2000, the program that became Adobe Audition. It runs well on WINE, except for the dx effects that require obsolete Windows libs. It does very well, but of course it's quite old, and not being updated. But so is my vinyl collection. I just wondered if Audacity could do, in a portable environment, what my desktop can digitally. Since we now have A-D converters built into turntables I don't have to worry about the poor sound card in the laptop. Then of course I'd have to figure out how to hear what I'm trying to edit--I could fit 8 or 10 of my laptops in the speakers I use for that! Anyway thanks for the info.

Krita 4.2.0 building for Buster and Sid, but quirks in the code cause build failures with Stretch's gcc-6. Maybe they can fix those in the future.

Hello steve, can you provide GTK2 spacefm+udevil package/repo with latest version for Debian Jessie please?
Also, if you can provide spacefm without dbus support?

Thanks for all efforts.

What do you mean about udevil? I don't anything about that in the spacefm docs, just udev.

If you do mean udevil, please provide some links about changing the package to help me out here.

MX 15 does provide a spacefm 1.0.6 gtk2 package in its main repo. Like the Debian version it's backported from, it only suggests dbus, it's not a hard dependency. http://mxrepo.com/mx/repo/pool/main/s/spacefm/

You know udevil helps mount/unmount on spacefm hdd, usb, smb etc...
I thought you did build this package aswell since it is advisable to use with spacefm.

Steve, please ignore this request, i just installed from ignorantguru.github.io by compiling, it was very easy in 2min did it.

Code: Select all

Installation appears successful. To reinstall or upgrade, run this installer
again. To repeat this same installation, run:
    spacefm-installer --prefix=/usr/local --disable-desktop-integration --disable-video-thumbnails --disable-startup-notification
I have older hardware in use, I thought it would take a long time, but I said to try it. Apparently it went well.

I'm sorry to worry you,

Kind regards!
Thank you!

Could I please suggest an updated build of Strawberry. The version from your repo had an issue where playback would stall when a playlist has files with different bitrates. I noticed it when following a 320kb/s mp3 with a 2720kb/s FLAC but there's a bug report on the Github page which was just closed and seems to be fixed with the latest dev build. I recklessly installed the buster version strawberry_0.5.5-150-gd820878_amd64.deb on siduction and the bug seems fixed and so far working fine.
The analyser doesn't work properly either but that's a minor issue, and there's an issue opened for it already.

After a long hiatus due to work on MX 19, plus Buster builds being broken in the repo, I've managed to get those Buster builds working again, and am starting to update packages..

So far, have updated
audacity to 2.3.3,
strawberry to 0.6.6,
qmplay2 to 19.11.26,
smplayer to 19.10.2,
mpv with vapoursynth to 0.29.1
pulseeffects for debian 10 and up
obs-studio 24.0.3

I should be able to work on it some more starting around Saturday.
