Input method on Debian Stretch

scim works nicely on Debian Jessie as recommended by Debian wiki. On a new notebook with Intel Skylate i7-6700HQ processor, Jessie had problems with LAN, Wifi and nvidia graphics card. Initially I added backports and tried the 4.5 kernel and a number of things including bumblebee but they caused problems with X and KDE.
I found Stretch weekly build worked OOTB, LAN, Wifi, graphics, all it needed was a few microcode and firmware-linux-nonfree.
I tried scim on Stretch but nothing happens, no choice of input methods. The input method suggested ibus, and others. ibus looks best supported so tried it and it worked first try, very nice.

I might try that on Debian Jessie to compare with Stretch.
