Hello,
I just have installed newest debian 8.6.0 mate. Desktop font (text under icons) is white with some black shadow. I do not like this shadow, I want pure white text. How can I remove this shadow?

And before the OP can say those are not related,
the one at "Archlinux" is excellent, I use it often
in relation to configurations on mate
It is the first hit in my browser:

Re: How to remove shadow from desktop font?
Thank you. I did my googling before asking here. I have also tried some .gtkrc-2.0 files prior to asking here. The nicely profiled search you kindly prepared for me unfortunately did not return anything useful, but your good will counts nevertheless. Keep up good work.
Re: How to remove shadow from desktop font?
that's a nice post #2, foormanek.
i'm sure you will enjoy your stay here.
fwiw, your "problem" indeed does not seem to have a ready solution.
i suggest:
- obviously, have a look on your system & mate documentation. i guess it at least has an option to change the color of the shadow.
- btw, the name of the app responsible is caja.
- if a solution for mate specifically cannot be found, search for old gnome2 articles, since mate is derived from that.
- equally, caja is derived from old nautilus versions.

[SOLVED] How to remove shadow from desktop font?
One does not post answers directly here, only hints for searches, so here you go:
Search for "Ubuntu Mate Change font color of Desktop Icon" . When you find an example for "desktop-icon-black" modify it to suite your font color and place not in system files, but in your local ~/.gtkrc-2.0 and voila!
