A few days ago, there was a post from a user that had added testing repositories to stable because they said they needed this version. The forum search turned up nothing like that when I searched for "kicad", so perhaps I'm going off the rails, but it turned out to be relatively simple to backport to Jessie once the boost161.patch was disabled. Here's the repository until it gets into jessie-backports:

the commands to add the repository key must also be run as root.
