PepperFlashPlayer for Chromium installation bug and solution

#1 Post by Trabuccodonosor »

Dear all,
I recently installed Debian 8.6 on an HP ProBook 4436s, then I followed the instructions for installing the PepperFlashPlayer for Chromium:
https://wiki.debian.org/PepperFlashPlayer/Installing

After that, however, the flash objects were not loading in the pages. The plugin appeared installed in Chromium, and looking at:
  • chrome://plugins/
I found out that the location of the actual file was set to:
  • Location: /usr/lib/pepperflashplugin-nonfree/libpepflashplayer.so
Looking in that folder, the file was not present, it actually ended in:
  • /usr/lib/pepperflashplugin-nonfree/libpepflashplayer.so
After I copied it to where it was expected, /usr/lib/pepperflashplugin-nonfree/, (and a reboot just to be sure), then the flash objects in Chromium were displayed correctly.

Hope this can help someone in a similar situation... I'm not that power uses, if anyone needs some more detail on my system, just drop me a line. But as a workaround, just moving a file did the trick.
[lsit]Chromium:
Version 55.0.2883.75 Built on 8.6, running on Debian 8.6 (64-bit)
pepperflashplugin-nonfree:
version 1.8.1+deb8u1[/list]

Thanks everyone!

Dario
