Dear All,
I run debian jessie + backports on my box and I use mutt as an email client.
Mutt can understand French accents and accented letters in the text, so I do not think there is a problem with that.
When I receive an html email, I resort to firefox to visualize it and here I notice that all the accented letters are messed up.
Is it a firefox rather than a mutt problem? Notice that this does not happen if I visit e.g. a French website, but only when I use firefox to read an email from mutt and I visit
file:///tmp/mutt.html
In case it helps, here is my locale
~$ locale
LANG=en_GB.utf8
LANGUAGE=en_GB:en
LC_CTYPE="en_GB.utf8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_GB.utf8"
LC_TIME="en_GB.utf8"

HTML emails, Mutt, French Accents and Firefox [Solved]
Re: HTML emails, Mutt, French Accents and Firefox
as you might know, in html special characters (in other words letters in other languages than English) need to be displayed with a tag. so À is À Á is Á and so on. Now, most likely mutt is creating the temp html file without these. why are you using GB locale if you are in France/using French
Re: HTML emails, Mutt, French Accents and Firefox
Actually, I discovered it is a problem of one email, not a systematic one.
I am not located in France and I am not a French native speaker, but that does not prevent me from reading/getting emails in French or in a language with accents.
