Debian 10: Xfce4-power-manager backlight

Hi,

I am using HP dv6700 with nvidia graphics card, nvidia proprietary drivers and I have a problem with xfce4-power-manager brightness control.

i do have a brightness class under /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/ which can be used to change brightness of the screen by using:
Code: Select all
$ sudo tee /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness <<< 5

I am unable to set my brightness with xfce4-power-manager brightness control slider as it is doing literally nothing.
I have ran the manager with --debug --no-daemon options which result can be seen below:
Code: Select all

Three warnings appear:

(xfce4-power-manager:23661): xfce4-power-manager-WARNING **: Unable to set the kernel brightness switch parameter to 0.

The last one is not important in this case as my laptop is not having keyboard backlight at all.

I have tested the backlight helper and it is working fine. I am even able to modify the brightness using it. Additionally, no error appears when xfpm-power-backlight-helper is used to set the brightness switch.
Code: Select all
$ pkexec /usr/sbin/xfpm-power-backlight-helper --set-brightness-switch 0
$ pkexec /usr/sbin/xfpm-power-backlight-helper --set-brightness 5

Do you have any idea what can be broken here?
