Where can I edit the configs to switch it to 2D?
I have a virtual machine in which I basically can not add 3D to the properties of the video adapter. This is restrictions of the owners.
I tried setting up Linux GUI for Debian 9 there (for test purposes), but no way.
I specially setup the most undemanding to resources window managers Xfce and LXDE. They have no 3D requirements in system requirements (or forgotten to specify).
The open-vm-tools-desktop package with video driver for VMware is installed and running.
In the VMware console the 2D graphics are presented (works for the installer and grub).
During the download I see the transition to the graphical display mode (for text). But as soon as full GUI starts instead of text the screen becomes black, only the cursor pointer is visible.
