Problem with resolution.

#1 Post by Headinajar »

Hi all.

I'm having the same problem as some other users on here with my resolution. I read the old post, did a couple of Google's but none of the solutions seem to work.

Could anyone please help me out? 800X600 just plain sucks...

I'm using Debian with KDE.

Thanks a lot in advance!

you need to edit /etc/X11/XFree86Conf config file
(that's not the exact name just use tab-completion and you'll find it)
it's in the modes section i believe..

Resolution

Horizontal and vertical frequency is very important.
Go to you're monitor manufacturer. Look up the exact specs of the monitor and edit the config file.
When I used the exact same frequencys as I got from the Liyama site, my resolution did not change, problem persisted. Used a bit smaller values and I got my resolution of 1600x1200.

Good luck.

Type:
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

when the menu askes for resolution,
[ ]1024x768

highlight and press the 'space bar' to put a * in the box, it should then look like this
[* ]1024x768

this solved my problems.
