Unable to connect an external display[more or less SOLVED]

#1 Post by microcris »

Hi there to everyone!

I'm trying to setup a new laptop and I'm struggling to get the external display connected.

No mater what, this is always the result:

Code: Select all

cris@omen:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192

   1920x1080 60.02*+ 40.03
DP-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
   1920x1080 60.02

I already tried with different cables (HDMI and Display Port) and a different display.
The result is the same with modesetting or with the Intel driver installed.
The result is the same with or without bumblebee installed
The result is the same with or without bumblebee + Nvidia driver installed

Re: Unable to connect an external display

It seems that my HDMI and DP are directly wired to Nvidia card.
Booting from a Ubuntu Live image, I'm able to connect and use the external display either connected to DP or HDMI.

A little bit of this:
https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers/Optimus

A little bit of this:
http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linu ... ndr14.html

And a little bit of this:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV ... timus#SDDM

And my problem is more or less solved. It depends on Nvidia to have a better solution.
