Chromium extensions keep crashing

Postby Grell » 2018-03-13 00:28

Hello, I run Debian Sid and have never had issues with Chromium. Over the past few days though I have noticed that as soon as I start up Chromium, all my extensions crash and I am given an option to restart them or close them completely. If I choose to restart them they keep crashing over and over and I have to just close them out completely. I am using three extensions: Adblock, Tor Button, and HTTPS everywhere. Has anyone else had this problem with Chromium? Thanks.

I've noticed the same thing, maybe they aren't compatible with current Chromium version?

Do extensions work with normal Chrome?
Maybe fall back to Firefox?

Perhaps it'd be wise to pay attention to bug reports; this is a known issue and has been known for about a week - which is why I haven't updated chromium yet.

If you'd had apt-listbugs installed you'd have found three bug reports on this very issue and apt-listbugs would have stopped you and asked for input before breaking chromium :)

apt-listbugs output - apt calls apt-listbugs if it's installed.

Code: Select all
serious bugs of chromium (64.0.3282.119-2+b2 → 65.0.3325.146-1) <Outstanding>
b1 - #890954 - With this version all extensions crash
   Merged with: 891656 892509
Summary:
 chromium(1 bug)
Are you sure you want to install/upgrade the above packages? [Y/n/?/...]

Chromium has been updated in the Sid repository and the extensions are working now.
