Light yet featureful Qt text editor Featherpad 0.8 released

Postby stevepusser » 2018-03-31 16:36

https://github.com/tsujan/FeatherPad

Basically, it's a lot like Kwrite without the heavy baggage of the KDE runtime libraries, it just uses Qt 5.

It's in upstream Debian, but I also have backports to Stretch and compatible Ubuntu releases here: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show ... Featherpad
The MX Linux repositories: Backports galore! If we don't have something, just ask and we'll try--we like challenges. New packages: Notepadqq 1.2.0, Pale Moon 27.9.0, KeePassXC 2.3.1, Calligra 3.1, VLC 3.0.1, Firefox 59.0.2, Shotwell 28.2

i installed the 0.8 release yesterday.

i think i heard someone say that featherpad is a little buggy, but full of features and plugins and whatnot.
not sure where i heard it, but featherpad is not that!
it has syntax highlighting, but apart from that it's very limited:
- nonsensical limitations like not more than 20 files in history
- one fixed color scheme, switchable between light and dark
- a woeful lack of useful keyboard shortcuts

i am using geany, and compared to that it's not even particularly lightweight.

i don't want to dis, but i wonder if i just dreamed about the hype or maybe i'm really missing something?
i also tried the git master version now, but it seems to be the same.
