Recording streaming video (PC volume off)
Recording streaming video (PC volume off)
How can I record the sound of a streaming video on my computer with the volume turned off, with vokoscreen or other screen capture software?
Re: Recording streaming video (PC volume off)
i assume you want the physical speaker to be off, and not the mixer channels?
please explain where you want to switch off the sound.
does it work when the sound is NOT off?
all in all, you would be much better off investigating if you cannot download the video instead.
some more details about the stream in question?

Yeah, it works when the sound is on.debiman wrote: does it work when the sound is NOT off?
I can't download the video so I need to record with the physical speaker turned off, as I don't want to listen to it while recording.

i will have to assume that this is a laptop, and its speakers cannot be turned off physically.
so you need a software solution.
i was under the impression that pulseaudio should be capable of achieving that.
another option would be jackaudio, but it's a little more advanced.

Re: Recording streaming video (PC volume off)
One option would be to plug in some headphones, that way the sound can still play but you won't hear it (unless you wear the headphones of course)

Pulseaudio is already installed. What do I need to configure to work in this question?debiman wrote:i will have to assume that this is a laptop, and its speakers cannot be turned off physically.
