Absolutely no details, ? To start with, is this even a Debian system, if it is, what version ?
Also, what Desktop Environment ? Is it XFCE, Mate, KDE, Gnome, etc ?
There are many, and they all configure and function a little bit different.
There are various virtual keyboards, (on screen keyboard), What virtual key board program/package is it ? Most do come with a manual, that should give instructions.
Is it this one ?: https://packages.debian.org/sid/web/florence
If it is , then this might help:
From: http://florence.sourceforge.net/english/usage.html
Press the bigger key to increase the size of the keyboard.

Figure 6. Smaller key
Smaller key.

Press the smaller key to decrease the size of the keyboard.

Figure 7. Close key
Close key.
Maybe read this as well: http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
