HDMI audio not working Debian sid

#1 Post by workoft »

Hi,

I'm running Debian unstable with pulseaudio 11.1-5 and kernel 4.16.0-2 on a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 460. The audio device is
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio (rev 21)

Whenever HDMI is connected (video working), the associated audio devices (audio working with other computers) are shown as "(unplugged)(unavailable)". I can still select them, but no audio is coming out. Sending audio to the alsa device using aplay doesn't work either.

I tried running Ubuntu from a USB drive, no luck with that either.

Thanks in advance,
Malte

First thing I'd try is a different HDMI cable. Or two if the second one doesn't work; they are cheap, both in cost and construction. Three with the same problem, however, is so unlikely as to be nearly impossible. Then look here:
