I really liked Mint but I hated the constant updates and crashes.
My first Debian Cinnamon combo was Debian & then adding the Cinnamon Desktop after Debian was installed. but I to re-install as it only 8gb ram and dual cores and does lock up. which requires a reboot.
Ok, I have three installs of Debian 9.3 using the Cinnamon. They all have the same problem: you cant add printer from the menu.
On the system menu when you click on the upper/left icon (screwdriver/wrench) you end up with the preference icons in the middle of the page. (this works) BUT there is NO printer/add printer ICON and you can not add a printer
Fact, I can add a printer using cups 2.2.1 from my browser (localhost:631), But Cinnamon never sees it.
I need to fix this problem.
side note two of them use different images
thanks

Re: printer icon smissing from preferances deb 9.4 Cinnamon
I use MATE, not Cinnamon, but this works for me:
Code: Select all
apt-get install system-config-printer
