[SOLVED]HDMI monitors on Openbox

#1 Post by Wheelerof4te »

I am considering a switch to a minimal WM, and am eying Openbox to be my ultimate replacement for GNOME until Sway finally comes to Debian.
The only two stumbling blocks so far have been tearing and HDMI support.
I am on a laptop, as most of senior members already know. My specs are:

Code: Select all

Intel® Pentium® 3825U (1.9GHz, 2MB cache, 2 cores)
AMD Radeon R5 M330, 1GB DDR3 / Intel® HD Graphics
39.6 cm (15.6") HD BrightView WLED (1366x768)
8GB DDR3L SDRAM
1TB, 5400rpm SATA
10/100 BASE-T Ethernet LAN
DTS Studio Sound™
Broadcom Wi-Fi card
Of course, Debian version will be Buster, because it's near it's release and it best supports my laptop.
I have my multimedia and brightness configs copied from another source, and pretty much have all the needed packages in my mind.
Minimal tearing I can live with (I don't intend to mess with compton), but HDMI support is a must for being able to hold presentations.
EDIT: Searching the net really is a solution to everything, lol:
