I have a Thinkpad W541.
I get the following error when trying to install the nvidia drivers:
"Checking for legacy NVIDIA GPUs appear to hang, try rebooting with 'acpi=off' added to the kernel boot options in the GRUB configuration."
This is a laptop, I can't just disable ACPI. I don't need to check for legacy NVIDIA GPUs, I just need to install the drivers.
What should I do?

Installation of nvidia drivers fail
Re: Installation of nvidia drivers fail
I was able to solve this by disabling ACPI temporarily and then installing the driver, then enabling ACPI again.
