Changes to Color Rendering on Debian Buster

Postby DIY » 2020-05-18 11:44

Greetings All

I've googled and looked in the forums for my problem with no success. If I missed it, please redirect me!

Recently moved across to Debian Buster from old Windows 7 machine, and first impressions are that Debian is awesome. Just one problem: the screen color palette suddenly changes, as per the photo below...

Rebooting solves the problem, but it happens again after a few minutes. Tried monitor calibration in Color settings, but it has no effect.

Any thoughts?

I've never seen anything like that, but my first thought it a hardware fault.

What is the graphics hardware & driver?
Code: Select all
lspci -knn | grep -iA3 'vga\|3d\|display'

Interesting. I have exactly the same problem. Happens randomly but usually after a few hours use. A reboot fixes it immediately, but it will come back later. I changed graphics card after the old one caused crashes but that doesn't count it out. Happens in KDE, but not in MATE and only on Buster. GPU temp usually 40-44C, never over 50C. i haven't solved it yet but, OP, it may be worth you detailing your experiences with your system, which might help HoaS guide you through the process of tracking the problem down and solving it.
