gsettings not being retained or being reset/undone.

System: Debian 10, Gnome 3.30.0 being accessed remotely via NoMachine

Problem: Despite setting screen timeout to "Never" (which works) after a period of 20 minutes, the on-screen notification about "Automatic Suspend" pops up.

Intended solution: setting the org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type to "nothing"

Method: gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type "nothing"

Result

Code: Select all
$ dconf dump / | grep -i "suspend\|sleep"
$ gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type "nothing"
$ dconf dump / | grep -i "suspend\|sleep"
sleep-inactive-ac-type='nothing'

Outcome.

"Automatic Suspend" notification still pops up, and running dconf dump / | grep -i "suspend\|sleep" shows the key has been reset to NULL.
