unable to open or save within application on wine

Postby landermark » 2020-09-02 19:13

I have wine (both 32 and 64 bit) installed on buster so that I can run a windows app (Math GV) that worked on earlier versions of Debian (8 and 9) I am able to start the application without any errors, but if I attempt to open a file or save a file it fails to do so. When I start the app from a bash shell, the error out put that it returns is: "0009:err:ole:CoCreateInstanceEx apartment not initialised" . Anyone out there familiar with that error and a way to remedy it?

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't think about going to the Wine user forum. The solution is simple, just open winecfg and set the windows version to XP. Problem solved.
