Postby xiasheng » 2020-09-07 04:49

hellow,
i am useing PIP mode at a 4K dispaly, and let debian display at small window,so i want to set it to 1920*1080 soultion.
before boot,it was run at 1920*1080,but when it go to gnome login page, it's automatic changed to 4k.
i try to set soultion after login, but it's only useful when i login ,and when i change to other tty,it's still be 4k.
i also try to change setting in etc/default/grub and update it , it’s still ineffect,
so how can i change it?

You can use https://packages.debian.org/buster/arandr to generate a script with the right resolution and then add it to your ~/.config/autostart.

Check your gdm conf file to change it there as well for the correct login screen resolution. I am not sure if changing it in gdm will apply to logged in session as well. It could.

for console fonts :-
"
On Debian/Ubuntu/etc. systems you can run sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-setup to set your console font, then run the setupcon command in your console to activate the changes.

For tty resolution you can search for the correct vga code to append to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in your /etc/default/grub. The update grub. Though I believe this method would soon be deprecated but it works as of now.
