Firefox as default browser

Postby Deblib » 2020-09-23 04:15

Hello, after installing and uninstalling Chromium I can't turn off the Settings option so Firefox doesn't check if it's my default browser every time I start it. How can I do that?

Open the hamburger menu top right, and click on Preferences. On the General tab, click the appropriate checkboxes.
Take my advice, I'm not using it.

The corresponding option appears blocked. It cannot be unchecked.
I also tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox and it reinstalled Chromium with it! I guess some dependency has been created that I don't know about.

How did you install and uninstall chromium? Using the package manager, or directly with dpkg or something similar? Without some idea of the distro you're using and how you are going about this, it's impossible to give much detailed advice. Assuming Debian Stable, you should be using apt to install and uninstall. There should be no co-dependencies between chromium and firefox, but there may be some I don't know about. I would first suspect a configuration issue, which might be resolved with
Code: Select all
sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser
Take my advice, I'm not using it.
