Sound Preferences "Test Speakers" function doesn't work

Postby andydj » 2020-12-18 12:22

Sound is working, but "Test Speakers" function of the Sound Prefererences dialog is not.

I'm using the Mate desktop environment, on Buster, on a variety of hardware, and I can't ever remember it having worked (going all the way back to Squeeze, when Mate was new): when I click on the "Test Speakers" button, the "Speaker Testing for <device>" dialog pops up, but if I click either of the left or right "Test" buttons, no output is heard. I'm assuming it due to missing test sound files or something like that, but it would just be useful if it would work!

Not sure if this works on other desktop environments, as I don't use them.

You should report the bug, devs are not here.
