This is my the first post and the first question on this forum
How can I set up gnome to open a new folder in the same window?
I don't want to click on Computer, then new window is opened, then I click on Filesystem and new window is opened, etc.
Gnome, Nautilus 2.8.2, Debian Sarge.

Gnome - open folder in the same window
You can make the change using the GConf editor.
It is under the menu:
Applications --> System Tools --> Configuration Editor
When the GConf editor is open look in:
apps
----nautilus
--------preferences
and check the box in the right panel for "always_use_browser"
